Although we have been creating and executing successful digital marketing campaigns since 2008, our managing director Mark Hickman has been involved in websites and online marketing for over 15 years. Hailing from a background of website sales and maintenance, Mark decided to set up his own company specialising in SEO & PPC and hence SEM Consultants was born.
As a new startup in 2008, we shared an office with another tech business and began to flourish quite quickly. In the space of two years, our small but close-knit team were ready to have their own office space.
Our First Office Space
2010 was the year when we finally had our own office space. In a small room space, our talented team focussed on their skills and started to see some impressive growth for all the clients under their remit.
Our collective expertise widened to more industry sectors than ever before and we helped our partners in both e-commerce and lead generation sectors. It was during this time that we added some key members of the team who are still with us today! It was here we achieved official Google Partner status, an accreditation we are still proud to hold today.
The First Rebrand
Having seen continued growth in the years from 2008 to 2012, we once again outgrew the cosy office space that we had. Luckily, we only moved 100 yards from our previous space to a more plush setting.
Our team swelled massively and we now have specialisms in Link Building, Content Generation, Search Ads and Shopping Ads to name a few. The added expertise in our family enabled us to achieve a Premier Google Partner status as well as becoming an accredited agency in the Bing Partners platform.
During this time we oversaw our first ever re-brand. Aligning our brand to that of the current design trends at the time ensured our “freshness” was preserved.

Appreciating that growth comes at a price, the executive team decided to put our valued team first and relocate once again – this time at a location that ticked many boxes for our team. Close to shops, bars & restaurants, our new office location allows our team members to have a more relaxing and leisurely surrounding to do what they do best, create and execute the very best digital marketing campaigns.
Now appreciating that there are many facets to digital marketing, we decided to add more specialisms to our repertoire.
